Obstacles can be Broken Down

Everyone who has tried to achieve anything in their life knows that obstacles do exist in life. This is a fact that cannot be disputed. These obstacles include brick walls, negative emotions, and doubts. Each of these different obstacles can be viewed in two ways. First, they can be seen as roadblocks preventing the achievement of a goal. Having this mindset of your obstacles tends to lead to failure and giving up.

The better option is to not invasion them as preventative, but rather to see them as being barriers that ensure that those that really don’t want to succeed do not. If they are viewed in this light, the obstacles become things that can be overcome by your desire to succeed and unwillingness to give into failure. The emotions that were preventing you from success before can now be turned into motivation, the brick walls can now be turned into stepping stones, and the doubts will be turned into thoughts of success.

Stop Thinking That the World is Out to Get You!

Most people in this world believe that everyone is working against them in life. They feel that the world does not want them to succeed and as a result they turn to excuses in order to relieve themselves of the blame for their own failures. This mindset tends to lead to a cycle of failure in which the person loses faith in their own abilities to succeed and end up blaming others for everything.

This negative mindset of the world is very dangerous. If you are one of the many in this world who think like this, it is important to make a change. Instead of thinking that the world is out to get you, think that everything happens to ultimately benefit you. This benefit can be teaching you a lesson, motivating you to continue, helping you out etc. This mindset is easy to achieve and almost everyone has already experienced it when they have found that a tragedy has really been a blessing in disguise.

To motivate yourself to think this way, place a sign on the back of your bedroom door that says "The world is constantly creating opportunity for ME!". Then, as you wake up and leave your room each morning, you will be reminded that the world is trying to help you and is not fighting your dreams. It is important to always look for the light even in the darkest of times and never let the world take away your dreams.

The Power of the Mind and Believing

"Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail"

Charles F. Kettering

The mind is the most powerful part of the human body. The power of this amazing part inside each and every one of us is evident in the Placebo effect. The placebo effect occurs during the course of an experiment when a test subject believes they have undergone a treatment (when they actually have not) and receives the same benefits as those that actually did receive the treatment.

In order for the people who thought they were receiving the treatment to see the same results as those that did, an additional factor must have been confounding the results. When all other variables have been accounted for, the only possible explanation for the ending of pain, the curing of cancer, and the healing of ulcers is the human mind.

However, the mind can work against you as easily as it can work for you. If you truly think that you cannot succeed, you will not succeed. This is a guarantee. However, if your mind blocks out all possibility of failure and truly believes that you are able to succeed, it will find a way to make your goal a reality. The most important thing for you to learn how to do is believe in yourself. Once your mind can be programmed to do so, all of the brick walls standing in your way will become passable, all of the mountains blocking your path of success will become insignificant, and all metal blocks that have prevented you from living the life you want will be lifted.

"Believe it can be done. When you believe that something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution."

David Joseph Schwartz

All of you currently possess the greatest resource available to succeed. Once you are able to corral its immense powers through belief in yourself, your future will be boundless.

8 Steps to Successful Goal Setting

“A goal is a dream with a deadline”

Napoleon Hill

1. Determine what you want

If you are not aware of what you want to achieve in life, you will never be able to achieve it. When you become aware of what you want, you are that much closer to achieving it

2. Write your goals down

This step, which happens to be one of the most important, is the one that is often overlooked. When you put your goals down in writing they become permanent. In addition, when they are written down they become clearly defined and are no longer simply thoughts rambling through our extraordinary brains. When you do write them, ensure that they are positive. Instead of saying “I want” or “I hope to be” say “I will be” or better yet say “I am” or “I have”.

3. Write down the reasons you want to achieve this goal.

When the reasons are written down, they become more real. As a result, they provide better motivation and can be easily referenced. I suggest spending at least ten minutes doing this step. When you get near the end of this time, try as hard as you can to continue writing down reasons. After the most obvious motivations have been put down on paper, you will be amazed at what other reasons/motivations your mind can come up with. It is usually these late addition motivations that are able to keep people striving to achieve their goals.

4. Come up with a time table for your goals

Goals are simply dreams with a time line. When this time stamp is added to our dreams, they become more practical and are not longer simply dreams. In addition, setting a time table and sticking to it will ensure that your goals actually become realities and not simply a plan to do in the future

5. Come up with a game plan

Determine the exact steps you will need to take to achieve this goal. By breaking it down into smaller pieces, it will appear to be easier to achieve.

6. Read your goals every day

When you write down yours goals and the motivations behind them, I suggest doing so in a notebook that can be kept by your bed. Read both the goals and the motivations every day before you go to bed or after you wake up. This will keep the goal fresh in your mind and will allow you to continually strive to achieve them.

7. Visualize yourself achieving the goals

This step can be done at the same time you read your goals. While you think about all of the motivating factors, try to picture yourself fulfilling all of these factors. Try to think about how all of the aspects of your life will be improved and how your quality of life will be improved.

8. Never give up on your goals

If your mind truly believes it can accomplish the goals, it will be able to. If your timetable expires before you are able to achieve them, simply ask yourself why you were not successful. After trying to figure it out, set a new timetable and a new game plan to try to improve upon your last attempt. Never giving up will ensure that your goals come true!
